  • Description

    : Houston Arts Alliance (HAA) seeks a project assistant to help create our plan to achieve disaster resilience among greater Houston arts, culture, and historic preservation community. Responsibilities include data collection, data entry, surveying and reporting, as well as relationship management. The position will require facility with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, out?of?the?box thinking, self?motivation, attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to meet tight deadlines. HAA is four months into a first of its kind 12?month research process to create the first systemic response and recovery plan for the cultural community of eight counties. Whether natural or human?caused, no location or industry is exempt from potential disaster, and the Disaster Resilience Project Assistant will be a part of ensuring our regions cultural legacy is preserved. The project assistant position reports to the Special Projects Manager. Compensation includes full benefits, including 401k and health insurance. This full?time position allows for some flexibility in schedule, but requires a minimum of 30 hours per week. Currently, the position is funded through February 29, 2020.
  • Desired Profile

    • Experience working with diverse communities, soliciting and honoring various perspectives, and an understanding of how shifting power dynamics create more inclusive and realistic outcomes
    • Knowledge of the unique challenges and experiences of nonprofits, the arts and history community, and independent artists
    • Possession of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent administrative experience
    • Knowledge of research methods and data collection practices and protocols
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials, private industry leaders, and officials across jurisdictions
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Task oriented and attention to detail
    • Time management, organization, and multitasking with minimal supervision
    • Ability to prioritize workload to the changing needs of a fast?paced business
    • A team player comfortable sharing progress on projects, openly and frequently communicating with the team, and contributing to helping the team do timely, quality research
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
    • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive data, records, files, conversations, etc
    • Ability to achieve goals through positive relationships
    • Reliable transportation and a valid drivers license
  • Responsibilities

    • Assisting with general research needs to ensure aims of research study is met in a timely manner
    • Creating and maintaining up?to?date files and records of research data, references, and other research?related documents
    • Tracking key research metrics
    • Coordinating the storage of data
    • Transcribing qualitative research
    • Creating slides, charts, graphs and handouts to aid in the preparation of manuscripts, presentation materials, and reports
    • Reviewing the printing and graphic art requirements of and making arrangements for the production of printed materials (handouts, research posters, etc.)
    • Scheduling appointments, visits, and meetings
    • Communicating effectively with internal and external teams including Disaster Resilience Advisory Committee
    • Travel within the region to meet with stakeholders and attend meetings
    • Performing other duties as assigned
